Lorentz National Park
The largest national park in Southeast Asia is located in the province of Papua, Indonesia. This national park is one of three global regions nan has a glacier in the tropics. Lorentz National Park is different from existing national parks anywhere in the world. Not only biodiversity are unique in this national park, Lorentz
National Park is the only national park that has the phenomenon of snow
and glaciers in the tropics.
The park is still not mapped, explored and there are many native plants, animals and culture. In 1999 the national park was accepted as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.Lorentz National Park is representative of the most complete ecosystem for biodiversity in Asia-Pacific. There are many types of rare flora and fauna that can be found here.Location of Lorentz National Park stretches from Jayawijaya mountain peaks snow-capped with an elevation of 5,030 meters above sea level, to
the coastal waters with mangrove forests make this region is
representative of the most complete ecosystem for biodiversity in
South-East Asia and the Pacific.
How To Get There
From Jakarta fly to the town of Timika, resumed flights to the
northern part of the region uses pioneering flights and to the South by
ship through the Port Sawa Erma, followed by the trail to several
locations in the national park Lorentz
