Indonesia is rich in natural beauty. Mountains, sea,
paddy, everything shows the natural beauty of Indonesia. One of them is the
Mount Rinjani. This mountain has an altitude of 3,726 meters above sea level.
It is one of the options for
climbers from both domestic and abroad. The story spread about its beauty makes
climbers feel challenged to explore the mountain which is located in Lombok,
West Nusa Tenggara – Indonesia.
If you spend the night here by camping, you can see the beauty of a
star-studded sky. Moreover if you gaze at it while lying down outside the tent,
covered with the sparkling stars, truly an unforgettable experience.
Climbing Mount Rinjani is one of tourist attraction being
a mainstay in the area of Mount Rinjani National Park. Mount Rinjani is the
second most active volcano
in Indonesia.
Mount Rinjani has a crater width about 10 km and there is
a crater lake called Lake Segara Anak which has depth about 230 m. The water
color is blue resembling the sea. The water that flows from this lake formed a
beautiful waterfall and flows through a steep ravine. Many of the climbers were
fishing in this lake because there are many carp and tilapia.
Mount Rinjani has received awards worldwide including the
World Legacy Award for Destination Stewardship category of Conservation
International and National Geographic Traveler in 2004, then in 2005 Mount
Rinjani became the top three, Tourism for Tomorrow Award in the category
Destination Award from the World Travel & Tourism Council, while in 2007
became the finalist of the Tourism for Tomorrow Award.
To reach Mount Rinjani, you can start from Mataram towards
Sembalun, East Lombok within 2 hours. If you are from outside Lombok, you can go to Lombok by plane then go to Selong, East
Lombok by car. From Selong, continue your journey to Pasar Air Mel and then to
Sembalun to start climbing.
