Derawan Island

Derawan Island is an island located in Berau, East Kalimantan, Indonesia. On this island there are numbers of beautiful nautical tourism, one of which is underwater park attractive for foreign tourists, especially world-class divers.

In Derawan Islands, there are very attractive coastal ecosystems and several small islands.In there we can dive, see the nesting turtles, also enjoy the clean and beautiful beaches as well as a marine park with beautiful corals, soft white sand and of course explore the natural enchanting island that makes these islands very alluring. Resort and lodge are nice, cheap, and widely spread along the coast. We can also visit some other islands around Derawan which certainly has its own beauty.

Derawan Island has an underwater park that is used for diving to a depth of approximately 5 meters. There are a wide variety of marine life that live and grow side by side, including various types of coral reefs, cuttlefish, seahorses, octopus, pipefish, ribbon eels, black stingrays which has diameter of 6 meters, coconut crab, dolphins, green sea turtles, hawksbill turtles, whales, dugongs, and lake at the center of the sea. It is an amazing site.  No wonder that this site is very well known to foreign tourists and ranked third in the world as an international diving destination.

How To Get There:
From the international airport of Balikpapan, continue the flight towards Kalimarau Airport, Teluk Bayur, Berau for about an hour. And then followed by public travel car towards Tanjung Batu and public speedboat to the Derawan islands for 3 hours.
