Lake Toba.
Lake Toba is a tecto-volcanic lake with a length of 100 kilometers and width
30 kilometers, located in North Sumatra Province, Indonesia.
Lake Toba is located at an altitude of 900 meters above sea level, the lake
is originally in the form of Supervulcan which is a gigantic volcano capable of
producing very powerful eruption resulting in the basin and in the long term is
filled with water, forming a lake.
Shifting layer of earth risen the bottom of lake and formed a very
beautiful Samosir Island. Samosir Island is located at the center of Lake Toba.
Facts about Lake Toba
1. The volume of water in Lake Toba is enough to inundate the entire
British Empire to the height of about one meter.
2. Samosir Island has an area of about 647 square kilometers which is
almost as large as the state of Singapore.
3. Formed as a result of one of the most powerful eruption of Mount Toba,
the Supervulcan volcano throughout history since the earth was formed and the
largest in the last two million years. The eruption of Mount Toba is about 74,000
years ago cooled down the earth’s temperature because of volcanic ash covering
the surface of the earth so that the earth's temperature reduced to 10 degrees
Celsius and volcanic dust reached Greenland in the Arctic and Antarctic in the
south pole.

Parapat within 163 km and can be reached in approximately 4 hours
