Cendrawasih Bay National Park is a bay surrounded by several islands. This National Park is famous for its rich of fish species. Cenderawasih Bay National Park has an area of 1,453,500 hectares, divided over a land area of ​​68 200 ha, covering 12,400 ha coastal area and 55 800 ha inland islands, and water / sea of ​​1.3853 million ha covering 80,000 hectares of coral reefs and 1.3053 million hectares sea, with a coastline length of ± 500 Km.



The Region of Cenderawasih Bay National Park are within 2 areas, Province (Papua and West Papua) and two district (Wondama and Nabire Bay). This area is located at the edge of the Pacific Ocean and is the junction between the Australian plate and the Pacific plate.



Flora and Fauna in the Cenderawasih Bay is very diverse, as for the type of fauna include giant clams, sharks, dolphins, dugongs, 209 species of fish, as well as four types of turtles that are protected such as the hawksbill turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata), green turtle (Chelonia mydas), Olive Ridley turtles (Lepidochelys olivaceae), and leatherback (Dermochelys coriacea).



In the village of Kwantisore, traveler can swim with whale sharks in the ocean surface. Besides Kwantisore, a traveler can find whale sharks in Ahe which is part Harlem Islands. Yoop Island, Wendesi, Wasior, and Yomber also become a favorite location to see whales and dolphins, as well as seeing a number of colonial relics from the 18th century.



To reach the Cenderawasih Bay, there are flights from Jakarta, Surabaya, Denpasar, and Makassar to Biak. From Biak, there is pioneer aircraft such as Susi Air to Manokwari or Nabire. From Nabire Airport, you can proceed to the Park, using a motor boat for about 3 hours.
