Mount Gede Pangrango is located in Java Island,
Indonesia, located in Gede Pangrango National Park area. This area is covered
by tropical rain forest mountains so it has a major role in the
history of conservation in Indonesia. This mountain is in the region of three
cities namely city of Bogor, Cianjur and Sukabumi, with an altitude of 3019
meters above sea level.
Mount Gede Pangrango is one of the most rainfall area in Java, with annual average about 3,000 up to 4,200 mm. Rainy season begins in October until May.
Climbers usually
enjoy watching a very beautiful view of the crater of Mount Gede.
At the top of the mountain, there’s a strong
odor of sulfur. The crater consists of Queen crater and Wadon crater.
The natural charm of
Mount Gede Pangrango is one of the best place in Indonesia to enjoy the beauty of edelweiss
flowers. Not all mountain in Indonesia have sights like this. This
mountain becomes
one of the climbers destination as the existence of edelweiss flower growing around the square area at the height of 2.958 meters above sea level. This kind of view can only be
found if we climb Mount Gede Pangrango.
From the top of
Mount Gede Pangrango we can go down the square of Surya Kencana, with Mount Gumuruh as the background
view. There are crystal clear water spring and large
place to set up tents.
This mountain is
about 100 km away from
the capital city of Indonesia, Jakarta and can be reached using the car
or motorcycle.
